“Dear Tailored Travel
We had such a good trip to Venice in January that we wanted to let you know about it.
It as a very full-on schedule and not a moment was wasted. The morning lectures, all the visits within the lagoon (a lot to buildings we would not have known about otherwise), the trip to Vicenza (a delightful and historic little town), the recitals, the art appreciation, in fact everything melded beautifully into a whole.
Everything appeared to go absolutely according to plan (we’re sure not without careful management behind the scenes) and our lecturers / managers Peter Medhurst and Tom Abbott worked so well and amusingly together to the benefit of us all. Tom deserves special mention for his solicitousness in unfailingly helping everyone on/off boats.
The only part which was a slight disappointment was the performance at The Malibran Theatre. It was interesting to see inside the recently restored theatre, but the opera chosen is performed very infrequently, and I can well see why ! !

Sita and I really enjoyed our holiday and in particular the musical dimension and your insight into Monteverdi and Vivaldi’s influence in leading European music.  With an old man’s memory, I do wish I had a video recording of your Venice lecture series, which were certainly for me the highspot of a most enjoyable trip . . . . . We both took to Tom, admiring his energy in that he had to bustle about so much to keep us in order.  Many examples come to mind, such as porters for the suitcases into the airport and rushing upstairs to see if we should be assembling in departure before asking us all to climb.  I congratulated him on his substantial voice and good articulation – most essential for my ageing ears in the crowds.  I leave unsaid his depth of knowledge of the super rich Venician art, history and where to find it!
