The Songs of England
A programme of English songs 1870-1970
Peter Medhurst performs an interesting selection of late 19th and 20th century English songs, which ranges from Sleep – H Parry, The Willow Song – A Sullivan, and At a Bierside – C Armstrong Gibbs, through to I Would I Were Acteon – P Warlock, There are Seven that Pull the Thread – E Elgar, and The Elizabethan Serenade – R Binge. The programme is unusual in that Peter Medhurst performs as his own accompanist, giving the performance added musical cohesion.
